This 4 ft by 3 ft sign, made of 2 inch thick HDU, uses a sandblasted background (sandstone texture) with elevated letters and an eagle icon (see CA1027) above in this gallery). The icon is done CarvedArt style (see Product Line 2); it has a 3 level sandblast treatment and is then hand-carved and hand-painted. There are thus no appliqués; the HDU is a single piece. All of the lettering is elevated above the sandblasted background and has flat smooth surfaces. We used imitation gold, rather than Metallic gold, to paint the letters and borders, because it will not oxidize like Metallic Gold paint. We could have gold-leaf gilded all of the letters, but this would have added $450 to the sign without a dramatic improvemnt in appearance. This sign was therefore priced at $960, about $80/square ft. If the icon were omitted or simplified to a Silhouette art icon, the price would have been $50/ square foot, or $600 (without installation or support structure).
