This sign relies on cut-out appliqués for its art and lettering. These are 1/2 inch or 1 inch thick HDU cut out with a CNC router and sanded on the edges. The letters are epoxied directly onto a smooth HDU substrate whereas the pieces of the art (a stylized sun, ocean and palm tree)are epoxied onto HDU blocks mounted between the applique and the substrate (the blocks cover only the middle area of the appliqué pieces so they are hidden from view). We have found blocks last longer and are less expensive than aluminum studs, which we also use to mount appliqués further from the surface.This sign uses blue and gray pastel colors very effectively.The sign is 3 ft wide and 6 ft high.
