This is a complex but very striking double-faced hanging dimensional sign, all made from HDU.It is about 4 ft by 4 ft. The 2 inch thick HDU substrate circle is lightly sandblasted to give a sandstone finish and painted tan.The letters for "Cafe" are made from 1 inch thick HDU, and have their interiors sandblasted leaving a smooth border on the edges, similar to Product line 1 sign borders.They are mounted on aluminum rods to give additional height.The rectangular piece with "Health" on it is a single piece of 1 inch thick HDU with the background sandblasted leaving a smooth border and letters.The letters in "Health" have sanded rounded edges and both the top and sides of the letters are painted gloss white. It is unusual to paint the sides of sandblasted letters because of the extra work required, they become almost as time-consuming as cut-out letters.The "Health" strip is mounted on aluminum standoffs. The coffee cup is sculpted and sanded by hand from a single piece of laminated HDU.The colors are very striking on this sign; tan (woody looking), green, white and a little bit of black.
