This is a hand-carved CarvedArt flower decoration on a Western Fir sign.The background below and right has been sandblasted, but the flower has been carved in the traditional wood-carving manner with knives, chisels, veniers, gouges, and V-tools. Note the detail around the petals and the leaves.After carving, the artwork is primed and hand-painted with 1-SHOT oil enamels. These were blended with white to get pastel colors.Each separate icon (there were four on this sign, one in each corner) costs about $60, and takes a woodcarver several hours to design, carve and paint the icon.
