This 4" x 4" rustic horizontal top cross-beam supports a hanging HDU sign for the Orchard House Guest Cottage. .It is mounted on top of a post (not shown in photo). The post is inserted into a 2 ft deep hole in the ground, which is filled with concrete, . The bottom of the post is treated with a wood preservative. The wood post and horizontal beam are stained and varnished.
