These  Channel Island National Park campsite marker posts  are  made of 4"x 6" rectangular Corten weathering steel hollow tubes. The top plate has the text cut out  with a CNC laser, and  a solid back plate  is welded to the back of this plate. The combined plate is then welded to the top of the  tube.  This photo shows the color of the weathering steel posts after they are  exposed outside to the weather for a few months. Their color  turns dark orange-red because of oxidation and  rusting ( the sign's gray color as fabricated is shown in  photo M8670 ).
